After less than convincing performances in the early round against Slavia Prague, Spurs have looked much better in the Group Stage. Last week in Leverkusen they always had the upper hand. Likewise in Istanbul against Besiktas. In the home match against Bruges they struggled early on but finnished strongly. The trouble is the UEFA Cup is a bit of a farce with 3 out of 5 going through, it is difficult not to qualify. Greater tests to come I'm sure. www.pieandmushypeas.blogspot.com

Sorry but i just don't see Spurs winning it. I don't see any English team winning it. Plus have you noticed every premiership team in it is doing poorly, stupid night to play the games (thursday)

I agree, there is nothing much to suggest an English winner other than the fact that the foreign opposition appear to be worse at present. This will probably change when the Champions League (European Cup as I prefer to call it) rejects join in.
Like I said before the competition is a farce, not only do with 3 out of 5 going through from the Group Stage but we also have that daft InterToto tournament feeding in to it.
I appreciate that European football is dictated by finance but the excitement of 2 leg knock out cup ties is rarely replicated by present formats.
As for Thursday football I agree that this is strange but this is unlikely to prevent me from going to VCD Athletic this evening. A contrast for sure to my first ever visit to Ashburton Grove this weekend for the inaugural North London Derby at that venue.

I think Werder Bremen will win the Uefa cup defeating Sevilla in the final
