Having watched the violence in Italy that occured in Sicily between rival "fans" of Palermo and Catania which led to the abandonment of the match and the death of a police officer, I felt sickened by scenes that should not be occuring in todays world, whether it be in football or elsewhere. I fully support the decision taken by the Italian FA to cancel all football in the country until further notice. This, however, I feel will not be enough, I think that UEFA and FIFA need to step in and ban all Italian clubs from European competition for a set period, say 5 years, and also ban the national team from the next World Cup and European Championship competitions. This may make people sit up and realise that violence and hooliganism has no place in todays game. I realise that it isnt just confined to Italy but the level of violence last night was appalling and now perhaps is the time to make an example of someone before even more people are killed.

didnt something like this happen between liverpool and an italian team in the european cup 2 or 3 decades ago?
and didnt we get kicked out of all european club compitions for around 3 or 4 years?
something happened with a wall falling down on some away fans, and we got banned for it.
the same should be done to italy and make the worlds footballing comunity stop and think before their actions.

Agree with all that you have said above. I am a Palermo 'fan', and am sickened by what has happened, and feel that appropriate action needs to be took, as you have said above.

BUT...the violence was at Catania, not Palermo, and it is based on how good the ground is according to certain criteria, not how the fans are
